In the Fall of 2020, Healthy Rural California applied for and was awarded an Elevate Youth California grant to support the work of the Butte Youth Now Coalition. Elevate Youth California is a statewide program that invests in the youth and supports the work of Butte Youth Now, which includes programs that empower the youth, build leadership skills and reduce access to alcohol. The Butte Youth Now Coalition has also initiated the Opioid Education Billboards and Responsible Beverage Service Training. Environmental strategies have been utilized in alcohol reduction efforts. Elevate Youth California supports community leaders and organizations throughout California that serve the youth in substance use disorder prevention, leadership development, policy impaction, and environmental change.
